The 1999 championship wasn't as good as the 1998 championship, but it was still a lot of fun. Notice in the last picture on the top row, the Saleen Mustang is broken down in front of the Saleen tent. I thought that was kind of humorous. I don't have any pictures of it, but the most impressive thing I witnessed at this race was when one driver came out of the pits. Apparently, his pit crew screwed up, because his left front wheel went rolling by him. In case you haven't been to Laguna Seca, the pit exit is very strange at this course. The exit lane runs along beside the course with only paint seperating the course from the pit lane, and then it seperates from the course and tucks around turn 2 (the Andretti hairpin) before finally allowing cars to enter the course after turn 2. Well, this guy's wheel was headed straight into turn 2. He drove his car (with three wheels) such that the wheel bounced off the side of his car instead of rolling out into turn 2. It could have been disasterous if that wheel had rolled onto the actual course. Then, he drove on around the tight bend in the pit lane, and pulled over into the sand after turn 2. He then proceeded to put his own wheel back on his car and, after doing so, re-entered the race!
